“The dealer "PUSH" refers to the dealer moving from one table to another. Most Table Games pits will move dealers through a "rotation" of tables at 20 or 30-minute intervals. Example: Three tables, four dealers... one dealer is on a break while the other dealers are on a table.”

Table Games Dealer Rotation System/ Software and Web-based Program with App Link Accessibility

Penciling Unbiased / Staff Hyperautomation

The Table Games Dealer Rotation or “PUSH” is an essential part of every Table Games operation. It is the guide which the Dealers follow throughout their shifts. It lets them know which table to go to next and when to go on break and for how long.

The purpose of this software and application is to streamline and digitize this process. It allows real time communication between the Pencil and the Dealers. This takes place via an App notification and display screens across multiple Table Games Pits if necessary. This is in lieu of the traditional face to face communication which is difficult when one Pencil can be responsible for hundreds of Dealers and locked into their position in the pit.

PUSH has several built-in parameters which are always true for a Dealer Rotation. For example, number of tables open + number of breaks will always = number of Dealers, as every Dealer working will always be on a table or on a break. In contrast to those constants, the software is highly configurable and intuitive as conditions are always changing. A Dealer may suddenly need to go home sick, and a table may need to be closed to accommodate, or a player may request a table that is not open, and that need will be met. All these changes made at the Pit Podium via the user interface by the Pencil will be immediately updated on the Dealer Rotation display screens in each pit as well as a notification sent to the phone of each Dealer affected by the changes. This way even if a Dealer is on break, they know the rotation has changed.

PUSH is composed of four primary pieces. The user interface, where the Dealer Rotations will be created and adjusted. The display interface which is visible on monitors placed in locations of the casino’s choosing. The App which is downloadable to mobile devices and tablets and facilitates communication between the Dealers and the Pencil. And finally, the web-based server which coordinates communication between the three interfaces and houses the PUSH software.

Dealer Rotations are traditionally in twenty-minute, or thirty-minute intervals and Dealers do not spend more than two hours on the floor before a break. Studies have shown that mistakes increase after one and a half hours of consecutive decisions and two hours is the max run before the error rate becomes detrimental to the operation.

Maintenance of the Dealer Rotation is traditionally performed by a Pencil. The term Pencil is derived from the need to constantly adapt the Dealer Rotation to changing needs and unforeseen circumstances. Everything had to be written in pencil so it could be erased when adjusting.

The Pencil position oversees an “early out” list or E.O. list which dealers sign when they are interested in leaving earlier than their scheduled shift-end time based on business demand. This list is typically a physical list which is kept on the pit podium and the Dealers sign as desired. The list is utilized on a first-come first-serve basis. If business demand is low and the Pencil wants to close a game and save labor costs, the first person on the E.O. list is sent home. PUSH houses this list and facilitates its use. The Dealers signs up for the E.O. list via the App, when a table is closed, PUSH sends a notification to the first Dealer on the list to inform them of their early out.

PUSH addresses the issue of bias when creating rotations and assigning Dealers to particular games. This is especially important in a “keep your own” environment where the Dealers keep their individual tip totals at the end of a shift. Table assignment can make all the difference in a profitable rotation of being paired up with generous players and a slow shift of landing on empty games. Even a conscientious Pencil who is fair and thoughtful can be perceived as showing favoritism in this highly competitive environment. With re-routing protocols built into the programing, PUSH reorganizes a rotation the same way anytime the need arises thus eliminating the potential for favoritism whether real or perceived.

Reporting

PUSH includes full reporting capability and database storage of all dealer rotations, table assignments, and early out history. With the click of a button, operators can pull dealer history for a particular table within a designated time frame. If you need to know dealer locations, you can also pull history by dealer and all table assignments will be pulled within the chosen time frame. This feature eliminates the need for manual entry dealer rotation tracking and spreadsheet storage.
